Deuter: As Far As The Ear Can Listen is a collaboration between Deuter and New Earth Records. The video premiered at the 12th Annual ZMR Music Awards on May 7th, 2016 at the Joy Theater in New Orleans, Louisiana. Zone Music Reporter honored Deuter by awarding him their Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his more than 40 years of innovative contribution to the New Age music genre.
The video offers insight into Deuter’s inspiration, philosophy, and creative process, shared by Deuter himself from his studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
“One thing that is important for me is that I love dancing on the edge of the unknown – to play around and open doors I haven’t walked through before,” Deuter says. It is this very outlook that has kept him at the forefront of musical evolution for over four decades.
Deuter is a German-born, Santa Fe-based composer and multi-instrumentalist who has pioneered new age music, connecting East and West in ways that few other artists ever have. Over the years, Deuter has mastered a vast array of instruments. Music by Deuter now includes flutes, shakuhachi, guitar, banjo, sitar, santoor, piano, cello, tibetan bells, koto, bouzouki, keyboards, and viola da gamba. He has recorded and released over 60 albums, all the while never ceasing to explore new frequencies and resonances.
