Hans Christian has been a performer, recording artist and producer for over twenty-five years. Originally from Germany, he began his musical career in Los Angeles in the 1980s as a sought after bass player. Co-founder of the renowned RASA world music group, his affiliation as artist-in-residence with Wisom University has garnered him rare access to the Cathedral in Chartres, France, for performances and recordings. His new album, Nanda Devi, is named after the scared peak in India. While cello is his main instrument, he also plays several world music instruments: sitara, sarangi, nyckelharpa, dhilruba, swaramandala, psaltery, bamboo flute, udu, tampura, frame drums, Tibetan bowls and more. Nanda Devi, one of the tallest peaks in the world, symbolizes the beauty of nature, spiritual power and a place of sublime serenity beyond the reach of modern civilization. This album evocatively captures the pristine loveliness and majestic grandeur of Nanda Devi, echoing our highest journey within.
