Master multi-instrumentalist Deuter takes a broader musical approach on Dream Time than on many of his meditative releases of recent years. From the opening cheerfulness of “Harlequin & Pierrot” (on which he plays banjo for the first time), it’s obvious this New Age music pioneer is setting the bar higher still for his contemporaries, both from a variety of music styles approach and the sheer virtuosity on display. From the gentle rhythms and delightful bell tones on “Shaman Flight” to the graceful, sparse piano and harp accented by ambient textures and subtle drums on the closing “Moonlight Pearls,” Deuter once more proves “nobody does it better.”
